SUMMARY:

The primary responsibilities of the OPERATIONS ASSOCIATE are to manage logistical and production elements of Musicfest’s community-based music enrichment programs, as well as to oversee components of the organization’s volunteer operations.  These operations include personnel and Volgistics database management.   Position also includes some box office and house management duties, as well as other duties as assigned. 

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate will have experience and/or demonstrated interest in music-related stage management or production work with concerts or theater.  Candidate will be highly organized, collaborative, self-driven, and will enjoy interaction with patrons and supervision of volunteers.  Candidate should demonstrate interest in music of different genres, be customer-service oriented and be a strong communicator, both written and verbal.  Employee should be comfortable with and capable of frequent physical activity, including lifting 30-40 pounds.


RESPONSIBILITIES RELATED TO LOGISTICS AND PRODUCTION:

Each season, Musicfest produces over 160 Music Alive! unique lifelong learning and creative aging events for the community. These programs involve frequent room set-up and change-over of chairs, tables, musical instruments, event signage, etc to affect successful programs.  In consultation with program director, guest lecturers and teaching artists, Operations Associate is responsible for the set-up of the programming space.  Operations Associate is also responsible for management and tracking of Music Alive! program participants (coordinating patron RSVP process, checking-in attendees, and related event follow-up communications).

Arizona Musicfest produces a series of important opportunities for young musicians (competitions, performances, scholarship program).  The Operations Associate will assist in the management of these programs’ logistics and administration.


RESPONSIBILITIES RELATED TO VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT:

Along with Musicfest’s professional staff, the organization relies on the volunteer involvement of some 100+ dedicated community members who assist with a range of duties.  The largest of these duties is ushering for concerts (close to 40 performances per season).  Additional volunteer duties relate to pre-concert operations and other activities.  Musicfest utilizes Volgistics, a volunteer-management database system, to administer the management of its volunteer operations.  The Operations Associate will be the manager of this system and will work with the Volunteer Coordinator and related staff to assign and train volunteers on various assignments.  At performances, Operations Associate will serve as a conduit between volunteer ushers, box office and Musicfest management.

While the majority of this position’s work can be performed between 9-5 (M-F), the position requires a flexible schedule including weeknight evenings and weekends to support Musicfest concerts and events.

Arizona Musicfest offers a competitive salary, commensurate with experience, as well as benefits.

This is achieved through the presentation of world-class performances, as well as by providing outstanding community arts education programs for youth and adults. Each November through April, Arizona Musicfest presents top artists of classical, chamber, jazz, Broadway, country, blues, bluegrass, and pop music in exceptional concert programs at venues in North Scottsdale and Phoenix. For the current 2022-23 season, Musicfest is on track to attract 35,000 patrons to its concerts.  Musicfest’s popular Music Alive! programming attracts over 2,500 attendees each season.
